Intelligems alternatives: keep it, pair it, or replatform
Last reviewed: 28 July 2026. Every Intelligems fact below was read from Intelligems' own surfaces — intelligems.io, docs.intelligems.io and its Shopify App Store listing — on 26 July 2026. Nothing comes from a rival's comparison page.

What Intelligems is genuinely good at
Intelligems is a Shopify-only experimentation app aimed at margin, not clicks — its own pricing page says it plainly: "Most tools optimize for clicks. We optimize for profit." By its own count it has run 100,000+ tests across 5,000+ stores.
Three things it does better than anything else in its lane:
- Real price testing. Not a display trick: Intelligems changes what's charged, through Shopify Cart Transform Functions, on any Shopify plan — down to variant level, across currencies, including subscription pricing — and reads the result against your own COGS as profit per visitor. Mtrix reports revenue per visitor; it does not read your margin. If profit-per-visitor is the readout you need, that is Intelligems.
- Shipping-rate testing, done properly. Flat, weight-based and zone rates, free-shipping thresholds, rates personalised by audience. Rare in the category, real here.
- Support merchants vouch for. 94% of its 154 App Store reviews are five-star (4.8 overall), and support quality is the most consistent theme in them. Ridge, True Classic and Nomad back it by name on Intelligems' own site. Mtrix has no published customer stories to put against that — worth saying out loud.
If you're reading this as a happy Intelligems customer, the alternatives below aren't for you, and that's fine.
Why merchants search for alternatives anyway
Every wall below is published on Intelligems' own pages, read 26 July 2026.
1. The bill isn't $69. The App Store card reads "From $69/month" — the floor of the cheapest module at the lowest order band, since "pricing scales based on sitewide order volume." Intelligems' own pricing calculator, set to one store at 10,000 orders a month on monthly billing, lists the Unlimited bundle at $2,314/mo, discounted to $1,279/mo on a three-month minimum. Same product, same day, both figures from Intelligems' own two pages. The entry price also moved: $49 in December 2025, $69 by July 2026 — up 41% in eight months.
2. On the affordable tier, "price testing" means one test a month. From its own FAQ: Smart Pricing Tier 1 includes "1 price test per month (12 per year) with a 3-month minimum commitment." Unlimited concurrent price tests are Tier 2.
3. The trial excludes the thing you're buying it for. "Every plan starts with a 14-day trial — no credit card required. You get full access to the entire Intelligems platform except Smart Pricing." Their FAQ, verbatim. You commit to price testing before you've run one.
4. Shopify's plan ladder gates the rest. Checkout tests need Shopify Plus — a Shopify restriction, but you pay it either way — and they are content blocks (trust badges, upsells, timers), not structure: Intelligems' docs rule out testing "one page vs three page checkout", "reordering the steps in checkout" and "changing the structure of the Shopify checkout flow." Shipping tests need Shopify Advanced or Plus, and only one shipping test can exist at a time.
5. It tests; it doesn't watch. No session replay, no heatmaps, no error tracking, no funnel analytics. When a price test loses, Intelligems tells you it lost — not what shoppers did on the page while it was losing. Two smaller frictions in the same family: mutually exclusive experiments are a beta you email support to enable, and anti-flicker is a setting with two modes and a "try out both and see which works best" instruction.
None of these makes Intelligems a bad tool. They define who outgrows it, and in which direction. Hence the fork.
Exit 1 — keep Intelligems
If most of your open questions are margin questions — should this be $34 or $38, does a $75 free-shipping threshold beat $50, does the bundle out-earn the discount — keep it. The profit-per-visitor readout is the right lens for those questions, and nothing on this page replaces it on the store you have. The honest move for Mtrix is to say so, and earn your attention the day the question changes.
Exit 2 — keep the store, split the jobs
This is the pairing most Intelligems customers don't know is available, because Mtrix isn't a Shopify app. It goes onto the store you already run as an npm package or a script tag, and on that store it deliberately doesn't touch price.
What it adds around the tests you're already running:
- The sessions behind every number. Mtrix records 100% of sessions — sampling is an opt-in control, not a billing meter — with rage clicks, dead clicks and form abandonment detected automatically.
- Experiments without a meter. A/B, multivariate, split URL and mask URL tests, with no cap on how many run — not concurrent, not monthly, on any plan. Variant assignment is decided in Mtrix's backend and stored server-side against the visitor for 30 days, not in a browser cookie that flips.
- Mutual exclusion, built in. Overlapping tests that must never collide are a standard audience-targeting control, not a beta to request.
- Analytics with a memory. Events and purchases are kept for three years (replays for one month); funnels, journeys and revenue live in the same product as the recordings.
- Replay filtered by variant. Open the sessions from the losing arm and watch why it lost.
Division of labour, in one line: Intelligems owns what the shopper is charged; Mtrix owns what the shopper did — and whether the rest of the store converts. Complements, not substitutes.
Exit 3 — replatform, and the whole surface opens
On a store built and hosted on Mtrix, the read-only constraint disappears, because the store is the platform:
- Pricing and offers become testable surfaces, along with bundles, cart, and landing and product pages. A free-shipping threshold is configurable in checkout, and two thresholds can be A/B tested against each other. The readout is revenue per visitor and conversion rate — Mtrix does not read your COGS, so if profit-per-visitor is non-negotiable, that stays Intelligems' win even here.
- The checkout is yours to test — structurally. The tests Intelligems' docs rule out on Shopify — one-page vs three-page, reordering the steps — are exactly the tests you can run when the checkout isn't rented. Run Mtrix's built-in checkout against the flow you arrived with.
- The builder ships the fix. Edit any page live, undo in one click, publish to the edge — no theme duplication, no developer queue.
Moving is Mtrix's job, not yours: import from your repo, your URL or Figma, a human finishes the setup, orders and customer history transfer, and the migration is included — guaranteed live within one week, even for the most complex stores. The full path is on switching from Shopify.
Intelligems vs Mtrix, path by path
| Dimension | Intelligems | Mtrix on the store you keep | Mtrix as your platform |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best for | Shopify brands testing price, shipping and offer economics against margin | DTC brands adding replay, analytics, error tracking, performance monitoring and uncapped content experiments around the store they have | Brands consolidating the store, the tests and the evidence into one product |
| Price & profit testingthe pivot | Its core competence — real price changes via Cart Transform Functions, variant-level, multi-currency; read against your COGS as profit per visitor. Smart Pricing Tier 1 = 1 test/month | No. Price is read-only on a Shopify store — keep Intelligems for this | Yes — pricing and offers are testable surfaces; reported as revenue per visitor, not COGS profit |
| Shipping-rate testing | Flat, weight and zone rates plus thresholds; needs Shopify Advanced or Plus; one shipping test at a time | — | Free-shipping threshold configurable in checkout; two thresholds A/B testable |
| Content & page experiments | Landing pages, themes and content from $69/mo at the lowest order band; anti-flicker has two hide modes — "try out both" | A/B, multivariate, split URL, mask URL — assignment decided and stored server-side | The same four types, on pages the builder publishes |
| Checkout testing | Content blocks inside Shopify's checkout, Shopify Plus only; its docs rule out structural changes | — | Structural — the checkout is yours; run Mtrix's built-in checkout against your existing flow |
| What's attached to a test | Testing plus integrations (GA4, Amplitude, Klaviyo, Heap, Segment) | Session replay at 100% capture, analytics, heatmaps and error tracking on the same script — open the losing variant's sessions | The same, plus the builder that ships the winner |
| Experiment caps | "Technically, there is no limit to the number of parallel tests" — but one shipping test at a time, and 1 price test/month on Smart Pricing Tier 1 | No cap — concurrent or monthly, on any plan | No cap |
| Mutually exclusive tests | Beta, off by default — "contact us and we'll enable it" | Built in | Built in |
| Setup | Content testing ~30 minutes; team-done integration 3–5 business days; collaborator access to your Shopify admin | Script or npm package; first test live in about five minutes once installed | Migration included — live within one week at the outside, guaranteed |
| Price & commitment | From $69/mo at the lowest order band, scaling with sitewide order volume — its own calculator at 10,000 orders/mo: $2,314/mo list, $1,279/mo discounted, 3-month minimum. 14-day trial, Smart Pricing excluded | Custom — talk to us. One month free first, no credit card | Custom — talk to us. One month free first, no credit card |
| Support | The best-reviewed part of the product: 94% five-star; Slack channels; dedicated CSM on Unlimited | Dedicated onboarding, email, a shared Slack channel and a named contact | The same, plus a human finishing the migration |
One sentence on the money, then we move on: Mtrix pricing is flat across tiers — not metered on sessions, orders or profiles — so a strong month changes your revenue, not your software bill.
The rest of the shortlist
Intelligems runs its own comparison pages against ABConvert, Shoplift and Visually — the Shopify-native peer set, all in roughly the same lane. The nearest overlap is Shoplift, whose real strength is theme testing and whose price testing is a beta on its $399/mo Advanced tier — covered honestly in Shoplift alternatives.
