Cookie Policy
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies Mtrix uses on its own website and product — what they do, why we use them, and how you can manage them.
1. Introduction
This page covers the cookies and similar technologies Mtrix sets on its own properties — the mtrix.io marketing site and the Mtrix product you log in to. It does not cover the cookies our SDK places on a customer's store; those belong to that customer (see section 3).
Mtrix Inc. (“Mtrix”, “we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies to run our website, keep you signed in, remember your preferences, understand how our site is used, and measure our marketing. This Cookie Policy explains what those technologies are, the categories we use, and the choices you have over them.
It applies only to the properties Mtrix operates directly: our marketing and informational website at mtrix.io, and the Mtrix application and dashboard that account holders and their teams sign in to. It is a companion to our Privacy Policy, which describes in full the personal data we handle as a controller and the rights you have over it. Where this policy and the Privacy Policy overlap, read them together.
Capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given in our Terms of Service or Data Processing Addendum.
2. What cookies and similar technologies are
“Cookies” is shorthand for several browser storage and measurement techniques. We use cookies, local storage, pixels and our own analytics script.
Throughout this policy we use “cookies” as a convenient label for a few related technologies:
- Cookies
- Small text files a website asks your browser to store and send back on later visits. A first-party cookie is set by the site you are visiting (mtrix.io); a third-party cookie is set by another domain, such as an analytics or advertising provider whose code runs on the page. A session cookie is deleted when you close your browser; a persistent cookie stays until it expires or you delete it.
- Local storage and session storage
- Key-and-value storage built into your browser. Web applications like the Mtrix dashboard use it to hold preferences, drafts and cached data so the app feels fast. Unlike cookies, this data is not sent automatically with every request — it stays in your browser until the app or you clear it.
- Pixels and web beacons
- Tiny, often invisible images or code snippets embedded in a web page or email. When the page or message loads, the pixel records that the content was viewed. We may use pixels — usually together with cookies — to measure page and email engagement and the performance of our marketing.
- Scripts and software development kits (SDKs)
- JavaScript that runs in your browser to provide functionality or measurement. On mtrix.io we run our own analytics script. This is the same Mtrix SDK our customers install on their stores — which is exactly why the boundary in section 3 matters.
- Device and similar identifiers
- Identifiers we or a provider may generate to recognise a browser or session for the purposes described below. We do not use covert device fingerprinting to track you across unrelated websites.
3. The boundary that matters
Cookies and storage the Mtrix SDK drops on a customer's store are that customer's data, not ours. The customer is the controller there and runs its own consent banner. This Cookie Policy is only about mtrix.io and the Mtrix app.
Mtrix is an analytics and experimentation platform. Our customers install the Mtrix JavaScript SDK on their own websites and stores. When that SDK runs on a customer's site, any cookies, local-storage entries or identifiers it sets there — and the behavioural data it collects — are Customer End-User Data. For that data, the customer is the controller and Mtrix acts only as a processor on the customer's documented instructions. The customer is responsible for its own cookie banner, notices and consent on its site, and that processing is governed by our Data Processing Addendum, not by this Cookie Policy.
So if you encountered Mtrix because an online store you visited uses our technology, the cookies and tracking on that store are controlled by that store, not by Mtrix. Your choices and rights there run through that store and its own privacy and cookie notices. We can pass requests through to the relevant customer, but the customer decides what to collect and how consent is obtained.
This Cookie Policy covers only the cookies Mtrix itself sets on the properties we operate: the mtrix.io marketing site and the Mtrix product, dashboard and account areas you sign in to. Everything below is about those properties.
4. Categories of cookies we use
We group our cookies into four categories. Only the essential ones are always on; functional, analytical and marketing cookies are governed by your consent choices.
We organise the cookies and similar technologies on our own properties into the four categories below. Essential cookies are necessary to deliver the site and cannot be switched off through our consent tool, because the site would not work without them. Functional, performance and marketing cookies are only set in line with the choices you make in our consent banner (see section 5). The exact cookies present can change as we update the site; the table gives representative examples and typical lifespans. Cookie lifespans on our properties do not exceed about 12 months.

Where a third party (for example an advertising or analytics partner) sets a cookie through our pages, that party processes the data under its own policies as well. We only enable such partners in line with your consent choices, and you can withdraw that consent at any time as described in section 5.
5. Managing your choices
Use our consent banner to accept or decline non-essential cookies, change your mind any time, and control cookies in your browser. We honour the Global Privacy Control signal.
You are in control of the non-essential cookies on our properties. You have several ways to manage them:
- Our consent banner. When you first visit mtrix.io you can accept or decline functional, analytics and marketing cookies. We do not set non-essential cookies before you have made a choice (except where a region's law requires a different default). You can reopen the consent tool at any time to review or change your choices, and your decision is recorded so we can honour it on later visits.
- Your browser settings. Most browsers let you see the cookies stored for a site, delete them, and block or limit cookies (including third-party cookies) going forward. You can also clear local and session storage. Look in your browser's privacy or site-data settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site or app from working.
- Global Privacy Control (GPC). If your browser or an extension sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of analytics and marketing cookies, and — where applicable law treats it as such — as an opt-out of any “sale” or “sharing” of personal data, for the browser that sends it.
- Do Not Track (DNT). There is no consistent industry standard for how sites should respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, so we do not rely on DNT. We act on the Global Privacy Control signal instead.
- Opting out with partners. Some advertising partners offer their own opt-out tools, and industry programmes let you opt out of interest-based advertising across participating companies. Those tools control the partner's own cookies in addition to the choices you make in our banner.
Because consent choices are stored in a cookie tied to a specific browser, you may need to set your preferences again on each browser and device you use, and after you clear your cookies.
6. Changes and how to contact us
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our site, the technologies we use, or the law. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and the change takes effect when the updated policy is posted. If a change materially affects how we use cookies, we will take additional steps to tell you where the law requires it. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
